  26-Sep-2025

Securing a position in the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) Recruitment for 2025 is a multi-step process that requires careful preparation and attention to detail from application to final selection. EMRS are model residential schools for tribal students, established by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The 2025 recruitment drive offers 7,267 vacancies for various teaching and non-teaching posts, making it a significant opportunity for many professionals.

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process and secure your spot.

  • Understand the Vacancies and Key Dates
First, identify the position you are interested in. The recruitment includes a wide range of roles:
    • Principals: 225 posts
    • Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs): 1,460 posts
    • Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs): 3,962 posts
    • Crucial Dates:
      • Application Start Date: September 19, 2025.
      • Application End Date: October 23, 2025.
  • Verify Your Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, you must thoroughly check the eligibility criteria for your desired post. This is mandatory, and applications from ineligible candidates will be rejected.
  • For TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) Posts:
    • Age Limit: The maximum age is 35 years as of October 23, 2025. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
    • Educational Qualifications:
      • A Bachelor's Degree (or a four-year integrated degree) with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject and in aggregate. It's important that you have 50% marks both individually in all subjects and as an aggregate.
      • A Ed. or equivalent degree from a recognized university. The subject in your B.Ed. does not matter, but your graduation subject is crucial.
      • A valid CTET Paper-II certificate issued on or before the cut-off date of October 23, 2025.
    • Subject-Specific Requirements: You must have studied the relevant subject for all three years of your graduation (e.g., English for TGT English). There are specific subject combinations for posts like TGT Social Science, Science, and Maths. For example, candidates with BSc Honours in Physics or Chemistry are not eligible for the TGT Maths post.
  • For PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) Posts:
    • Age Limit: The maximum age is 40 years. Age relaxation rules apply.
    • Educational Qualifications: A Master's Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject, or a two-year integrated Post Graduate Course. A B.Ed. degree is also required (except for PGT IT).
  • For Other Posts:
    • Principal: Requires a Master's degree, B.Ed., and 8-12 years of teaching experience, with an age limit not exceeding 50 years.
    • Computer Science, Art, Music, and Physical Education Teachers: For these TGT posts, a B.Ed. is not required. Instead, a relevant Bachelor's degree like B.P.Ed. for Physical Education is needed.
  • The Online Application Process
Applications must be submitted online through the official portal: nests.tribal.gov.in.
    • Read the Notification: Before you begin, carefully read the official notification to understand all instructions.
    • Registration: Visit the official portal and click on the "EMRS Recruitment 2025" link. Start by clicking "New Registration". You will need to enter basic details like your name, parents' names, date of birth, and contact information based on your 10th-grade certificate.
    • Create a Password: Create a strong password (8-13 characters with upper/lower case letters, numbers, and special characters) and select a security question.
    • Complete the Application Form: After registration, log in with your registration number and password to fill in academic details and post preferences.
    • Upload Documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph (10-200 KB) and your signature (10-50 KB) in JPG format.
    • Verify Details and Submit: You will see a preview of your application. Double-check all details, as the form cannot be edited after final submission. Agree to the terms and click "Final Submission".
    • Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee online via debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI. The fee varies by post and category.
      • For TGTs/PGTs: ₹2,000 for General/EWS/OBC (Male) and ₹500 for SC/ST/PwBD/Female candidates.
    • Confirmation Page: Download and print the confirmation page for your records.
  • Understand the Two-Tier Exam Pattern
The selection process is multi-staged and features a new two-tier examination system for teaching posts. The exams will be conducted offline (OMR-based).
    • Tier-I: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying Nature)
This is a 100-mark objective paper with a duration of 2.5 hours.
      • Key Sections: General Awareness (10 marks), Reasoning Ability (15 marks), Knowledge of ICT (15 marks), Teaching Aptitude (30 marks), and Domain Knowledge based on NEP-2020 and experiential pedagogy (30 marks).
      • Language Competency Test (Crucial): This is a part of Tier-I and is qualifying in nature. You must score a minimum of 40% (i.e., 4 out of 10 marks) in each language paper; English (10 marks), Hindi (10 marks), and a chosen Regional Language (10 marks). Failure to qualify in the language section will lead to disqualification, and the rest of your Tier-I paper will not be evaluated.
    • Tier-II: Main Examination (Merit-Deciding)
Candidates who clear Tier-I will be shortlisted for Tier-II in a 1:10 ratio (10 candidates for every vacancy in their category).
      • Structure: This exam is worth 100 marks and has a duration of 3 hours. It consists of both objective (MCQ) and descriptive questions focused on your specific subject.
      • Breakdown (for TGT):
        • 40 questions will be objective (1 mark each).
        • 15 questions will be descriptive (4 marks each), totaling 60 marks.
      • Final Merit: The final selection will be based entirely on your performance in Tier-II.
      • Negative Marking: Be cautious, as there is a negative marking of 1/3 (0.33) marks for TGT and 25 marks for PGT for every incorrect answer in the objective sections.
  • Prepare for Success
    • Start Early: Do not wait until the last minute. The descriptive part of the mains exam requires in-depth knowledge and writing practice, which cannot be developed in a short time.
    • Focus on the Language Test: Do not underestimate the language competency section in Tier-I. Many capable candidates get disqualified here. Prepare well for English, Hindi, and your regional language to secure the minimum qualifying marks.
    • Master Your Subject: Since the final merit depends on Tier-II, deep knowledge of your domain subject is essential. Practice writing descriptive answers for topics related to your subject, such as analyzing literature for English or solving complex problems for Maths.
    • Prepare for Other Stages: Depending on the post, the selection process may also include a skill test, an interview, document verification, and a medical examination. Keep your documents ready and prepare accordingly.
