- Academic Qualifications
To be eligible for the UPPSC Assistant Professor position, candidates must meet specific educational qualifications.- Master's Degree: The fundamental requirement is a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
- Mandatory Test: Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR. Alternatively, qualifying for the SLET/SET is also acceptable.
- Ph.D. Exemption: A candidate who holds a Ph.D. degree is exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirement. To qualify for this exemption, the Ph.D. must have been awarded in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009/2016) and meet specific conditions, such as being awarded in regular mode, having the thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners, and the candidate having published at least two research papers from their Ph.D. work.
- Marks Relaxation: For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and Differently abled categories of Uttar Pradesh, there is a 5% relaxation in the master's level marks, reducing the minimum requirement to 50%.
- Specific Disciplines (Fine Arts): For subjects like Music or Painting, a special provision exists. Traditional or professional artists with a Bachelor’s degree who have "highly commendable professional achievement" (such as being an 'A' grade artist of AIR/Doordarshan) and have studied under a reputed master are also eligible.
